Unlikely chickenpox: A rash with fluid filled blisters is suggestive of chickenpox, but the distribution is atypical. Chickenpox usually starts with lesions on the abdomen and then spreads up and out and includes the entire body.  Lesions that are limited to hands and ankles along with a sore mouth or throat are more consistent with a Coxsackie virus, often called hand foot mouth virus.  An exam would confirm.

It could be : A bad itchy rash, it could be a fungal infection, it could be poison ivy if you happened to step in some..
Since we can't see it, it is hard to guess. You can try applying a topical stead as a first line of defense, if no improvement see a doctor.

Poison ivy?: Itchy rash with blisters, on back of hands and wrist could be from a few conditions. I would think about poison ivy first, and the hand and wrist could be the area of contact. Scabies is another condition to be thought of. Any contact allergy can present with this also.

Benadryl (diphenhydramine) & see a doc: If the rash is bad, and especially if there is pus coming out, you should be seen by a doctor as soon as possible. In the meantime, otc Benadryl (diphenhydramine) (25-50mg every 4-6hrs for an adult) can relieve itching and swelling, but may make you feel sleepy, so be careful driving, etc.

i had surgery on my left wrist on the 11th. the orange stuff they used caused a very itchy rash and i told them i was allergic to betadine. any ideas?

? iodide allergy: It sounds like a possible allergy to iodides (iodine-containing substances).  If there is a rash in areas which were coated by the "orange stuff", that represents a "contact dermatitis".  Contact the surgeon to confirm it was an iodinated substance, and note for the future your iodine allergy.

i have extremely dry skin on my hands and wrists but i woke up today with a non itchy rash looking thing on my forearms. is it possible my dry skin just moved up my arm?

Many thing possible: Very dry skin may be eczema. People with eczema have dry areas of skin, are drier overall, and tend to have allergies (they are more sensitive to pollens, etc.). If it's eczema, one can try a cream like CeraVe. Dermatologists recommend such creams for the ceramides ingredient, which helps make dry eczema patches more normal. Cream is applied as needed, and also after bathing, to lock in moisture.

Rash: Rashes are among the most difficult to diagnose without a physicial exam however; some raches have characteristic distribution patterns. Chigger bites can occur in the distribution you describe however, multiple other causes are possible. Accurate diagnosis will require a history and physical exam by an experienced physician, start with a primary care provider, then dermatology.

4 yr old son has non-itchy rash for 10 days on knees, elbows, wrists. rash is raised and started as spots but now joining. gp said coxsackie not sure.

Rash in kids: Rash is a common symptom of many viral illnesses. Coxsackie virus causes rash but also may have other accompanying symptoms including fever. If in doubt get a second opinion especially if it last longer especially if ur child has other symptoms.
