No.: Those are not typical early symptoms. But if you have had risky sex, you need to make sure you don't have either one, or other std's, too.  Don't wait for symptoms, often there may be none until the infection is advanced. Practice safe sex from now on!

Late, usually: Usually a sign of late infection, i.e. overt AIDS, usually several years after catching HIV. It can occur in early HIV, but usually does not. In either recent or longstanding HPV, thrush is never the only symptom. Also, most coated tongue and other white patches in the mouth are not thrush. See a doctor if you have symptoms you are concerned about.

this the 2 part to my first question i tested negative my exposure was in october and in november, december i started to get some thrush and light lymph note pains is that a sign of hiv even though i tested negative? trush slightly going away? stress?

Accepted Answer

: A negative result on a 4th gen combo test at 6-8 weeks after exposure rules out HIV, however, HIV is only one of the STDs. A condom may not protect against HPV, Herpes, LGV, syphilis, pubic lice etc. It would be prudent to see your doctor for an evaluation.

HIV: Untreated HIV can affect people differently. Some have no symptoms. Symptoms include raised skin rash, thrush with sometimes with pain with swallowing, reoccurring sinus infections, shortness of breath, diarrhea, muscle weakness, change in thinking and alertness  All of these same symptoms can be from many other conditions, so someone reading this should not assume they have HIV. Get tested.

: Opportunistic infection such as oral candidiasis can rarely occur in early HIV infection.  However, you have not developed the infection verifiable by the tests you have had.

what hiv type is known for attacking the cns early in infection? negative rna for hiv-1, negative ab/ag 17 weeks post exposure. wife and i are suffering severe brain fog, daughter and i have thrush. test rna for type n and p? im at a loss here?

: No particular types of HIV are more or less likely to cause CNS infection, either early or late. Your negative bood test results prove you and your wife do not have HIV; and your symptoms do not suggest an HIV CNS infection anyway. Thrush is common in people without HIV and with normal immune systems. Keep working with your doctor(s) on this, but no worries about HIV. Good luck.

HIV: A sore throat by itself is not a a sign of hiv. If you are concerned you were exposed to HIV you should get tested. Testing can be done anonymously at many state health departments so if you are worried better to be  tested and find out. 
The signs of HIV may not always be easy for you to tell without testing for the virus.

Unknown: Hiv harms the immune system making you more likely to get infections. I know of no time frame. Some of my patients get thrush and others don't.

Years: Before the era of effective medications, it would take several years before the immuodeficiency became severe enough to make thrush appear. It might appear briefly during the acute infection.

Accepted Answer

No specific time: There are varying degrees of immune dysfunction with HIV and there are varying levels of exposure to agents that cause opportunistic infections (i.e. infections that occur when one's immune system is not functioning normally).   These variable factors will contribute to the time it takes to develop thrush.
