For healthier mercury levels try: Crabs, Crawdaddies, Haddock, Flounder, Salmon, Shrimp, Oysters, Anchovies, Herring, Mullet, Sole, Freshwater &gt;

Meat/none, Fish/3-4 : A person does not need to eat any meat to stay healthy because virtually all its known healthy ingredients are found in other foods. Meat eaters have different bacteria populations and a recent study showed that the l-carnitine from meat increases heart disease. Fish, like wild alaskan salmon has vit. D, vit. B12, omega-3 fatty acids, phosphatidylcholine, coq10, and protein. Eat fish 3-4 times wk.

Varies with source: We look at fish as a generally healthy source of protein but some will have enough inorganic mercury to avoid. Inorganic mercury is toxic to forming brain cells.Hake is one of many considered low in mercury. There are others as listed in the included figure. You may want to explore what the mercury levels are in sources that are served in your country.

Mackarel: is an oily fish high in omega-3 fatty acids and typically less expensive than salmon. I don't really know how large your cans are, but I would think you are consuming more than 600-800 cal/day, or perhaps 1/4 to 1/3 of your daily caloric input. This is too much of any one kind of food(even a good one) for a balanced diet. And it's a lot of fat (even the good kind) and protein. I would cut back.

Low carbohydrate : You might be referring to an atkins-type or low-carbohydrate diet.  People do lose weight with this approach, but it may not be sustainable as a whole-life practice.  In reality, you need lean protein, plenty of vegetables & fruits, healthy fats and cut down on processed foods like sweets, breads, etc.  If you are insulin-resistant, you want any carbohydrates to be complex, & more slowly absorbed.

If prepared right OK: If the sushi is prepared right by a trained chef it is Ok.  But like any food it has to be prepared and stored correctly.  You should be cautious who and where you get raw meats, that the chefs are reputable, and know how to prepare the sushi.
