Depends: If your appendix is not ruptured, you should be able to go home the next day.  If ruptured, you will likely require multiple days of IV antibiotics and days in the hospital.  Some patients, if done laparoscopically and their appendix is not ruptured, can go home the same day.

No.: An appendectomy is one of the most common and straightforward operations performed by general surgeons.  The risk of surgery is primarily related to the overall health of the patient.  With acute appendicitis, the appendix, by definition, is "infected".  Therefore, most complications are related to one's response to infection.  Most people are home in a day-or-two and back to normal in a few wks.

2-4 weeks: It depends on how bad the inflammation was, laparoscopic or not?, how long you waited prior to surgery .  Whether there was perf or not?  Still, in most cases you will go home in 1 -2 days, be in pain the first week, sore the second and then return to activities the 3rd or 4th week.  I know a surgeon who had it out and was back at work the next day.  Depends on how u deal with pain.

Get well and go home: Appendix surgery is one of the most commonly performed surgery , considered relatively low risk surgery , that will prevent catastrophic complications . You will have  slight pain for couple of days, with  early diagnosis and laparoscopic  surgery you will go home next day ( most of the time )

When you feel ready: If you can walk around the house and walk to the car, you may drive.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Less recovery time: Recovery time with laparoscopic surgery and limited incision is much less than usual abdominal surgery. Most appendectomies are performed now with laparoscopic  surgery,much less invasive than conventional surgery. incision smaller and blood loss less. Abdomen distended with carbon dioxide for surgery. Some discomfort related to distention. Recovery time may be reduced to less than week.

i supposedly have an intussuscepted appendix.  surgery has been offered, but i don't know what to do.  any recommendation?

Surgery: Intussusception in adults may be caused by a tumor (e.g. Tumor at the tip of the appendix acts as a lead point that causes it to intussuscept). No surgery is without a risk, but if there are no contraindications to surgery with general anesthesia, it is an indicated procedure in this case. The tumor, if present, may be too small to be detected by imaging studies.

Unpredictable.: A small subset of people with acute appendicitis may respond to antibiotics alone; however, it is more common for people to progress to rupture if not operated on. Therefore, for almost all people with appendicitis, the risk of rupture outweighs the risk of surgery. Therefore, we almost always recommend surgery.

what type of surgery is performed to remove the appendix?

Laparoscopy v. Open: The appendix may be removed via traditional "open" surgery performed thru a 2-3" incision or via minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.  Both are safe procedures with the choice of procedure usually dependent on the preference of the surgeon.  Like most surgeons under age 50, i perform almost all of mine laparoscopically, with an average length of hospitalization less than 24 hrs.
