Yes.: If that is the cause use propanalol for short term. Usually it lasts less then a week.

Accepted Answer

No: The old notion of migraines being caused by variations in blood flow due to arterial constriction and dilation was disproved decades ago. Any pain you're feeling over those places (I suspect your anatomical knowledge needs work) is "referred" from pain-sensitive structures in the cerebral meninges.

2cm lymph node on top of right carotid artery. has not grown in 1 year. is this okay as long as it does not grow or is it cutting off blood flow?

Probably ok: It's not cutting off circulation - your carotid artery is a thick walled, high pressure vessel that's not easily compressed. Lymph nodes in the neck are common and usually benign, but you should be carefully examined for other enlarged nodes in less common locations including on a chest x-ray before writing this 2 cm node off. The fact that it's not enlarging is very good.

We don't know!: What a great question. The truth is we don't really know. There is a suggestion in the literature that chronic migraines may (MAY) be linked to a slightly increased risk of stroke, potentially because of mild long-term damage to blood vessels. But research is ongoing into this question. The best thing to do is to treat the migraines and make sure your blood pressure is under good control.

Accepted Answer

Depends : The reversed blood flow in the carotid usually indicates a narrowing in the vessel closer to the heart. Your symptoms usually indicate if treatment will be needed. At a minimum medical treatment is necessary. For most people the condition ends up in surgery. There needs to be investigation to determine the cause.

i have a swishing in my carotid artery, had an ultrasound everything was clear is it possible that i just hear the blood flow but  everything is fine?

Venous hum?: A true carotid bruit is dangerous but if you actually had this from a narrowed carotid, it would have shown up. Three foolers are (1) a tight aortic valve with the murmur transmitted; (2) some other heart murmur, perhaps from athletics; (3) a venous hum, not in the carotid at all, but from turbulence in the internal jugular or subclavian vein or where they join. Have a few more docs listen.

Carotid stenosis: If severe, greater than 60%, then you should consider a potential entarterectomy or even stunting to prevent additional stroke events.  Some evidence to suggest also, potential benefit of anti-platelet medication such as Aggrenox and a statin.  Discuss with a stroke neurologist, and a vascular surgeon.

: No, those symptoms are not correlated with carotid artery stenosis. The ischemic stroke due to carotid artery stenosis causes unilaterally symptoms (loss of motor and/or sensory function) from the opposite side.

homogeneous solid thyroid nodule measuring 1.6x1.9x2.8cm increased peripheral and intranodular blood flow. had biopsy. how suspicious and concerning ?

Worth a Biopsy: It was suspicious enough to warrant a biopsy. You had one. The results will be back soon and you will know one way or another. Most turn out to be benign.

the right ovary measures 2.4x1.8x1.4 cm the left ovary measures 2.9x1.7x1.8 cm bilateral ovaries seen with blood flow and dominant follicles measuring less than 2 cm. should i be concerned? painful intercourse. and left pain sometimes randomly.

Accepted Answer

Normal sized: ovaries with a pending ovulatory cyst.  Unlikely to be a direct  cause of pain or painful intercourse.  Endometriosis is a more likely source of the pain you are experiencing.
