No: Diabetes has little to no effect on fertility.  Though diabetes can complicate a pregnancy, it can be managed by a trained ob/gyn physician.  In some cases the help of  a high risk OB (maternal fetal medicine) will be required.

Depends: It depends on how well it is managed. I have seen people live into their 90's with proper management, and die in their 20's with improper management. Just remember that diet and exercise is something only you can control.  Btw i went to port jefferson high school. (elvhs).

Untrue: There is no food that is absolutely forbidden. But although fruits are better than cookies or candy, they are sweet because of natural sugars, so they can still raise blood sugars. Like everything else, have them in moderation.

Type 2 diabetes can happen in overweight kids due to Insulin resistance.

Fasting blood sugar test.
Autoantibodies that are common in type 1 diabetes.
The presence of ketons in the urine.

Usually Type 1: Though rates of type 2 dm are rising in this country, by far the most prevalent is type 1 in children, particularly pre-pubertal.  Kids present with frequent, large volume urination, thirst, weight loss initially.  Then they can start to vomit, get belly pain, and dehydrate. Insulin is the only treatment for type 1 diabetes in both kids and adults. Treatment is life-saving.
