Yes!: Lots of work but totally worth it. After you treat your scalp with medicine, rub conditioner or olive oil into your hair. Use a nit comb or a sturdier flea comb for cats & dogs. Comb through hair every 2-3 days to remove nits and lice. It's important because the treatments don't kill all the lice. So nit-picking helps get rid of them & prevents a whole new crop from bugging you.

Check package instru: The lice removal kits  you purchase at the store usually give you a shampoo for the initial treatment. They are also supposed to include a special comb to help strip the eggs off the hair. Please carefully read the package instructions or speak to your pharmacist when using one of these kits.

Not specific to lice: Lice are rarely seen by the naked eye. They are tiny. The most common feature would be noticing tiny egg casings (nits) the lice attach to individual hairs in abundance. If you don't see the "nits" there is little more you can do than monitor over time. A thorough rinsing of her hair for  several minutes with a stout vinegar can sometimes treat an early infestation without meds.

Yes: Head lice eggs are laid at scalp level by sexually mature lice.You can have lice for ~10 days before they start laying& they are tiny & hard to see.You cannot assume that a casual mature louse laid one egg and then committed suicide. If it is there  & really a nit, it means trouble. If you treated &just have a nit left over from prior infestation, just get rid of the nit & retreat if lice return.

Try olive oil: Try applying olive oil to hair- cover with a plastic shower cap and leave in over night.  This will loosen the nit (egg) glue. The oil will also suffocate the adult lice. Use a metal nit comb to remove the nits.  You will need to comb out a small amount of hair at a time.

Nit comb/vinegar: Some find that a strong solution of pickling or apple cider vinegar  can help loosen the bond the nit (lice egg) has to hair. Rinsing the hair in this solution followed by combing  with a fine comb can help. Another product may be needed to kill  the lice, but this can help with the eggs.

This : This is very challenging to answer without a clinical picture and seeing in person.  I would recommend you see a dermatologist for further evaluation and treatment.  They can examine you and look for nits in your hair.  I hope that helps.

Depends: Head lice are hard to see.It is the active lice, jumping to your hair that could infect you, not the eggs.The eggs are glued to the hair.However, if there are eggs visible, there are likely living lice on the scalp.They could transfer in a hug, or on shared hats/scarves/combs or brushes.
