Head Lice: Many head lice medicines are available at your local drugstore. Each otc product usually contains one of the following active ingredients:pyrethrins, permethrins (nix), and dimethicones.

Nix (permethrin) shampoo: Permethrine (nix) shampoo followed by combing out eggs from hair by using fine comb is the first step. If not successful, see your doctor to get more potent pediculocidal preparation.
