Dry socket: Dry Socket = extraction site where protective blood clot has been lost w the bone lining the socket now exposed to oral bacteria causing bone infection. Any of the actions you described can destabilize of the clot. If you are having symptoms (severe pain, bad breath, bad taste, swelling, discoloration, etc.) call theGeneral Dentist or specialist Oral Surgeon that did your Rx for post-surgical exam

Soreness: You had surgery. You will be sore. Soreness will begin to abate from the 2nd or 3rd day onward. If you have severe pain, bad breath, horrible taste, severe swelling, call the General Dentist or Oral Surgeon that did your extraction.

Dry socket: Dry socket occurs when the clot in an extraction site washes out and the bone in the site becomes exposed to bacteria-containing oral fluids.  The less you suck, the less chance of premature clot loss.  Call your treating Oral Surgeon to discuss post-surgical care.

It is normal: Tooth extraction is a surgical procedure and is not completely risk-free. Pain, swelling, bad breath and infection following surgery is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery. After that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop. See your dentist or an oral surgeon for post-op appointment and treatment. Take care.
