Tachycardia: You always have a fast heart rate?  How often have you measured this?  Do you measure it for a full minute?

Most people have a heart rate between 60-100 at rest.  You may wish to measure yours a bit more before deciding it is time to check again at the doctor.  Your past history sounds good- no concerns there.

If you have a fast heart rate all the time, it would be a good idea to have a check up

No: Caffeine helps prevent dementia in the long run, excessive caffeine is not good - if you are vit B6 deficient the caffeine breaksdown in body to homocysteine which increases inflammation, so either you can increase your vit B6 intake or make up for caffeine by drinking 3 times the oz in water. Theophylline in tea is a stimulant people with irregular heartbeat need to watch the amount they drink..

Stop caffeine: Taper youself off though. You will get withdrawal headache if not.  I was the same. On coffee all the time to stay up and study later at night fora  big exam. Day of exam, did not drink coffee cause i did not want to get up to go to the bathroom. About 2 hrs into the test, got severe headache. Never figured out problem until after test.  Try mix half decalf and half reg first.

Caffeine withdrawal: Caffeine withdrawal sxs can last a up to two weeks & can begin 12 to 36 hours after you stop caffeine use. Symptoms can include nervousness, irritability, low mood, mood swings, feeling tired, headaches, poor concentration, nausea, vomiting & muscular aches & pains.

Coffee good!: Sorry, i was trying to do a neanderthal imitation. 3 observational studies were recently published extolling the benefits of coffee & caffeine consumption although they don't prove cause & effect, just correlation.
