i have a deep innie bellybutton. whats the best way to clean it? ive had infections before and i dont want to go through that again. google says to use a cotton swap and use rubbing alcohol and warm water, is that accurate?

: There are many ways to clean the site. The irregular surfaces are difficult to clean with simple washcloths that can't reach the deep folds inside. A cotton swab/Q-tip/ear bud or whatever you call it can be coated with any soap and used to scrub the site. Alcohol can be used but can be very drying. You will note a grayish material on the used swab which can represent both dirt or dead skin cells.

i had a decompressive craniotomy and my skull was stored in the subcutaneous pocket about 3.5 months ago. is the subcutaneous pocket feel warmer to the touch than the other side? i was worried about infections to the skull flap?

Accepted Answer

: Blood flow to the skull flap (which is the intent) and mild inflammation can cause warmth. Concern for infection is greater if there is also redness, tenderness or swelling. Either way, for sure check this out with the doctor managing your care for this. Good luck.

usually before menstration i get an itchy rash under my breasts. i've heard that yeast infections occur in dark warm moist areas - how can i stop this?

Keep the area dry: Many women have the same symptoms.  If you will dry the skin with a hair dryer each time you shower or bathe, it will eventually kill the yeast on the skin and the rash will not come back.  It is important to continue to use the hair dryer even when you don't have the rash.

a coworker swears by warm olive oil for ear infections. is it safe to pour anything in your ear like that?

It depends: There are times when it could be dangerous, like a perforated ear drum for instance.  But for a suspected middle ear infection, this form of treatment has been practiced for centuries and provides relief while the body's mechanisms for dealing with the infection take over.  After years of prescribing antibiotics for these, we now know that the majority will heal on their own without drug risks.

can a diabetic reach the sweet smelling urine symptom without experiencing the other symptoms like increased hunger and thirst, increased urination, weight loss, fatigue, and infections?

: Yes. You can begin to spill glucose into the urine at a blood sugar level of 170 and above. Major symptoms like those cited may not appear until you reach twice that number or more.

Bladder infection : You likely have a urinary tract or bladder infection. Women are prone to urinary tract infections because the tube that goes bladder (urethra) is short. Frequent sex can push bacteria up into the urethra and into the bladder. See a doctor and start treatment to prevent the infection from spreading to your kidneys. Urinate immediately after sex and drink lots of water to prevent a recurrence.

Warmth: Depending on how long u had this & what other symptoms u have. Could be normal, metabolic such as thyroid disease, effect of medications, infection, etc. Consult your family doctor.

Several possibilitie: Muscle strain, knee problems, blood clot are three possibilities .You should be evaluated sooner than later.

No: If you have penile discharge would get it checked.

: It can be, but most DVT are associated with swelling. THere are other reasons for a warm sensation in the leg . Like varicose veins, skin conditions and nerve problmes.
