Can not predict: That is not something we can predict. If you had preterm labor with the last one then you are at high risk again on future pregnancies

Distension: During the pregnancy the uterus is distended. This causes the muscle wall to contract.

Accepted Answer

Close monitoring: An emergency cerclage is an extremely high risk procedure. Very close monitoring by your doctor is warranted. Please clarify the  plan of care with your Obgyn as to how you should proceed. Often these cases are managed with bedrest at home or in the hospital. Serial sonographic cervical lengths are done. Sometimes medications are used to calm the uterus.

No: An irritable uterus is one that can be contracting, but is not the same as preterm labor.  Preterm labor means the cervix is opening and that is threatening for you and the baby. Preterm contractions are when the uterus contracts but the cervix doesn't open.  It can be VERY hard to distinguish the 2 from patient perspective (I had them same in my pregnancy). See doctor or L&amp;D! if worried though!

Taking care w/ baby: Given that you have a baby-on-board, I would be proactive about getting you treated. You should go to the doc and get a diagnosis for the diarrheal illness. With some history, exam and lab tests, there should be some 'road map' to follow. Pregnancy causes your immune system to weaken, and you don't want things to get out of hand. No: Induction of labor should not be done before 39 weeks unless there is a clear medical reason. As long as the pregnancy is otherwise normal, an irritable uterus would not qualify as a reason where the risks of early delivery would mean it is safe to induce labor.

i get braxton hicks contractions when i bend over... is that a symptom of an irritable uterus? they occur very often although without a set frequency.

Accepted Answer

Normal: Braxton-Hicks contractions are irregular and disorganized contractions of the uterus.  They are not concerning.  They may be alleviated with hydration and/or rest.  If the contractions become more organized or more frequent, then you should see your OB/GYN.

what could it mean to measure 2.6 weeks ahead on ultrasound and fundul height? i'm 32 weeks. what could the outcome be? i have a irritable uterus also. baby is 5p 6oz. is it normal to feel pressure on bowels with braxton-hicks had it for 2 weeks now.

Difference : could a variation of the actual ovulation/conception day. Also could be a  sign of gestational diabetes,  or just  a larger baby.

Same contractions: Braxton Hicks contractions indicate the level of sensitivity(irritability) of the uterus to the agent(oxytocin) that can cause labor. The difference is the frequency, intervals, and duration of the contractions that will eventually be progressive enough to produce changes in the cervix-AKA active labor.

i am 23 w. pregnant and when i get up i have a heavy feeling  that follows with contractions  and blood pressure drop to the point i pass out.  do i have iritable uterus? i'm on bed rest cause i was dilating

Please call your dr: Uterine contractions and blood pressure drop make me concerned that you are not drinking enough water.  Make sure to drink at least 2 liters of water a day and eat regular snacks to keep blood sugar up.  When you get out of bed, sit for a few minutes and then stand slowly without starting to walk to let your body adjust.  If this is happening regularly it is very important to call your ob
