No: An irritable uterus is one that can be contracting, but is not the same as preterm labor. Preterm labor means the cervix is opening and that is threatening for you and the baby. Preterm contractions are when the uterus contracts but the cervix doesn't open. It can be VERY hard to distinguish the 2 from patient perspective (I had them same in my pregnancy). See doctor or L&D! if worried though!
