High fiber diet: You should supplement your diet with fiber. An  easy way to do that is to eat a high fiber breakfast cereal. Read the packages. Most cereals have 1 or 2 g of fiber per serving but allbran and fiberone have 12-14 g.  Mix these  in with your favorite cereal and eat some everyday.

i have irregular bowel habits for a long time.is there a method of "regular-izing" my bowel habits? like sitting on toilet at same time everyday?

May or may not help: Although having a regular routine may help, it seldom "normalizes" one's bowel habits. You may 1st want to try an otc probiotic like align and if this doesn't help, see your doctor for more advise.

No: Bowel irregularity does not cause you to gain weight. If you are going less frequently than every 3 days, you should consider using a stool softener or a bulking agent like metamucil.

You're not abnormal: Irregularity is common & does not necessarily signal abnormality. Average stool pattern in america fits a bell-curve, ranging from 3 movements daily to one every 3-4 days. Try adding fiber (fruits, vegetables, whole grains) or commercial water soluble supplements to "regulate" stools. Raise concern if bleeding, weight loss, localizing abdominal pain or a personal/family history of colitis, cancer.

U may have IBS: Irritable bowel syndrome is a very common diagnosis, more so in female, but happens more and more these days. If you have blood in stool and/or wt loss, please consult doc for eval for possible ulcerative colitis or crohn's disease etc.. Stress tends to worsen ibs symptoms. Pepcid/prilosec/zantac may help 'acidity." consult doc for eval and treatment. Good luck.

Can't tell: Over the computer, can not tell the seriousness of your issues.  Hyperacidity with cahnges in your bowels should warrant a visit to a GI dr. For a good evaluation though, to deterine the cause and then the treatment should follow.  Best wishes.
