Colonoscopy: Please see your primary care physician for a referral to a gastroenterologist right away if you haven't yet had a screening colonoscopy test at 50 years old. The most serious thing to rule out, of course, is colon cancer, but there are other things less serious that could also cause your symptoms like a hemorrhoid or anal fissure and irritable bowel syndrome.
