: There is an association with pneumothorax and a bubbling sensation. A chest CT is recommended. Your physician may elect to obtain a chest x ray initially. Watch for shortness of breath, chest pain and nausea.  Other causes include GI upset.

A 33 year old having undergone significant cardiac surgery should directly discuss all these matters with both surgeon and cardiologist. Diet after any surgery is discussed with specific surgeon. Lovely question!: First: just be there! it's very reassuring to know you're not alone. Second: they'll be weak and will need help for a few days. Meals, assistance getting to/from the bathroom. Next: find out their worries: bills need to be paid? Walk the dog? Feed the cat? Finally: distraction. When they're feeling better, bringing  reading material, music, tv, shopping, cleaning the house.
