my 14 year old daughter has history of meniscus tears on knee and has knee pain constantly. what can i do to help her? has both pain and swelling!

Knee pain: you first need to ice it at least twice daily for thirty minutes. Make sure don't bear any weight on it and keep it elevated until you see your doctor.

is it possible that i can have a torn meniscus and or ligament tear even though the mri came back clean? i am constantly have knee pain and buckling

Unlikely: If an MRI did not show any abnormality of the meniscus or ligaments then it would be very unlikely that you have a tear.  Like everything, there are false positives and false negatives, but a "completely clean" MRI likely means that the answer to your question is no.

knee pain since march.  mri says root tear of posterior horn with extrusion.  despite rice, i still have clicking and locking.  is surgery inevitable?

Maybe: Many conditions like you have experienced may heal over time  with physiotherapy. Only your orthopedic surgeon can give you the best answer to your question as to need for surgery in the future.

Possibly: You have internal derangement of the knee joint with fluid.buildup. The question is which finding is causing the severe pain and effusion--cartilage.or ligament pathology. Ligament injuries are often not.operated on and thus you may respond to corticosteroid injection, stem cell therapy, or physical therapy &amp; pain and fluid collection may improve after a week or two. Orthopedic surgeon can advise.

Knee pain: Yes, a positive mcmurray is a test done on physical exam that reproduces pain on the torn meniscus--it is a flexion, extension, rotation test that puts pressure on the torn tissue/meniscus.

MMT: First, find out if it is a significant meniscal tear that would be causing locking or mechanical symptoms. Treatment may include stretching, nsaids, therapy, possible injection, or scope. May need mri/imaging study first.
