Knee pain: Yes, a positive mcmurray is a test done on physical exam that reproduces pain on the torn meniscus--it is a flexion, extension, rotation test that puts pressure on the torn tissue/meniscus.

Knee pain: The mcmurray's test should be performed to test for a meniscal tear; this involved hyperflexing the knee and gently internally and externally rotating the knee; this may elicit a click and/or pain from the patient. Understand, too, that a positive mcmurray can be in the setting of a normal meniscus if there is inflamed synovium and/or articular cartilage wear.
