It can be: Letrozole (femara) is an anti-estrogen that tricks the brain (pituitary) into making more fsh which can increase the number of eggs produced in a cycle.  It is not as effective as ivf or injectable medications and is usually used in women younger than age 40 for infertility. Depends: Not that I am aware of  but that being said, I would be concerned over what you are taking.  If you are taking narcotics or opiates, you might have a problem during a pregnancy. This could lead to neonatal abstinence syndrome. YOu need to discuss this further with your gynecologist.

No and Yes: Use of the topical form of minoxidil for hair loss (alopecia androgenita) is NOT associated with sterility or infertility. Hair growth typically resulting from use of minoxidil usually does recede after discontinuing its use. Minoxidil should only be used for specific hair loss patterns. See your physican to make sure you don't have other underlying and potentially treatable causes of hair loss.

Ovarian cysts form: every time a person ovulates, larger (greater than 4 or 5 cm), are more rare, can be just fluid filled(simple), or complex(fluid/solid). Simple cysts usually resolve over a 4 - 6 week time frame, sometimes with medications to help. If not resolved or complex, surgery is often required. Removal of the cyst or ovary is decided on a case by case basis.

can the medication "clomid" be used to treat pcos patients or is this medication used only on patients with infertility problems?

PCOS treatment: Clomid (clomiphene) is used when you are trying to get pregnant and is used more in patients with pcos for this purpose.  It is also used for patients with unexplained infertility. In both situations, the goal is to increase the chance or number of eggs ovulated.  If you are not trying to get pregnant, then Clomid (clomiphene) would not be used to treat patients with pcos.

3 main causes: Infertility is complicated but there are three main causes with 3 tests, 1. Ovulation testing. You have to release an egg to be able to get pregnant 2. Sperm analysis - you have to have available sperm to fertilize the egg. 3. HSG Xray - Anatomy problems - there has to be a clear path for the sperm to be able to fertilize the egg.
