Calcium hydroxide: Is used in vital pulpotomy to help the apex of a developing root close;generally in young children. Once the root is closed the root canal is completed and the tooth is like any other although it will not feel hot cold or pain. It will require a veneer/cr in the adult or a build up to protect the occlusal surface in children.

Not substantially.: Actually we have increased the human life span quite a bit in the last century.  As you are 82 i see you have already benefitted a great deal from modern medicine. It is unlikely we will see any significant increase in life span for the next 50 years.  We might make some incremental advances, but seems we are hitting a wall built by nature.

Yes: It depends on how much it effects you.  There are people with severe disease who will have to have multiple surgeries and lose ability to digest. They definitely have shorter lifespans.  However, there are many people with mild disease who do not have any significant likelihood of not having a normal lifespan

Yes: The major funder of basic research in the usa is the nih.  Many useful medical and scientific discoveries originate there and with their fund recipients.  This includes a number of research pathways designed to increase health and longevity.  As long as the budget is not cut by congress, this work can continue.

Sky's Limit: I know some pretty old welders. When i don't want to say i'm a doctor i say i'm a welder. Great fun. They've taught me some of the lingo. Seriously, diet, exercise, stress reduction you could outlive even these guys. Easy on alcohol. Stop smoking if you do. It's not the welding that will shorten your life. All the best.

Unpredictable: Genetics plays a small role and environment a huge role...As does attitude. You can be healthy with a bad attitude or sick with a good attitude and both live equally long. Jim fixx ( marathon runner) died young and george burns lived to 100. A healthy lifestyle keeps "genetic predispositions" from showing up and overall such people  wold be expected to live longer. The will to live is important..

Depends on CD4, VL: Hmm... not sure I want to help with this sort of question. Why would you (or someone close to you?) with HIV stop taking medications for it? If you are depressed or otherwise upset, please get counseling. That said, the "average" life span is impossible to say without knowing things like your CD4 count and viral load (VL). Anywhere from a few months to 20 years, but probably usually 2-5 years.
