Yes: It depends on how much it effects you. There are people with severe disease who will have to have multiple surgeries and lose ability to digest. They definitely have shorter lifespans. However, there are many people with mild disease who do not have any significant likelihood of not having a normal lifespan

Usually not: crohn disease is a life time illness that can some time go into remission unless patient end up with a severe mal nutrition because of mal absorption associated with crohn or multiple surgeries that caused the patient to have short bowel syndrom or missdiagnosed with ulcerative colitis that could lead to cancer they should have a normal life span
