Blood test: Urine pregnancy tests while quite accurate depend on the particular hormone being in the urine. This in turns depends on the level of hormone in the blood [varies person-person and length of gestation] and how the kidneys are functioning. Many pregnant women have neg urine for as long as two months. A blood pregnancy test is completely reliable. Perhaps pregnancy needs ruled out.

had very light pink discharge 10d after period. 5d after that having much creamy and watery discharge. took urine test but neg. is it too early?

Accepted Answer

It depends: To answer correctly, day 1 of your cycle is the first day you bleed.  If you are trying to get pregnant, then mid cycle would be the most fertile period.  If the urine test was for pregnancy it was a waste.  Wait 2 weeks after a missed period and then check a pregnancy test.

i have had a contraceptive implant on my arm for about a year now . i havent had my period for the last 6 months. the last 5 days i have been feeling cramps on my belly and had some pink discharge. should i be concerned?

Accepted Answer

Common: Birth control impants such as Nexplanon contain Progesterone only. Irregular bleeding is a common side effect of Progesterone only methods. The endometrial lining is thinned out by the chronic Progesterone exposure. Without Estrogen to counter balance it bleeding can occur at times. This does mean the method is not working

Irregular ovulation : , possibly polycystic ovarian syndrome,  causing a build up in the uterine lining, with the discharge you see as a result. See your doctor for treatment.

Not connected: The implant has no association with urinating, make sure you do not have a UTI. Irregular menses and spotting can occur with the implant

Pelvic infection?: As always, i try to think: "what is the most serious condition associated with these symptoms?" I have to assume that the pink discharge is bleeding. And back and leg pains can be symptoms associated with pelvic inflammatory disease. This is, of course, treatable. But you must be examined to be certain what's going on . Good luck. Lgromkomd.

Sexually active? If: That is a yes, start by taking a home pregnancy test. Reasons for missed/late periods: low body weight, obesity, marked weight ^ or v, over-exercise, endurance athletics, breast-feeding, ^ stress, illness, eating disorders (bulimia or anorexia), anovulatory cycle (no egg released), travel, hormone irregularities, drug use, meds (i.e., birth control) or medical problems. #1 reason is pregnancy.

Bleeding post period: At about two weeks after your period starts, you will be ovulating, and this starts with a drop in estrogen, which at age 22 does not usually cause any bleeding.  Sometimes a twin ovulation occurs, which has two times the estrogen , and when this drops before ovulation, it can cause degeneration of the thickened uterine lining, which is seen as mild bleeding.

Menstrual cycle: If you had unprotected sex and missed your period, take a pregnancy test.  Irregularities in the menstrual cycle can occur from time to time, due to stress, fatigue, or recent illness.  You may get a light period or a regular one in a few days.
