A bowel regimen to achieve 2 soft bowel movements daily (water, juices up to 1.5 liters daily, fiber tablets, laxatives, stool softeners, probiotics) and walking are non-prescription tools you use to reach goal. If you have fever, vomiting, localized pain lasting over 40 minutes get evaluated again. Your doc is saying "nothing serious".

: Yes, an imaging study should be in place, depending on pain location and characteristics and in order to rule out structural changes possibly involved in causing the pain. While IBS is always possible and relatively common, pain is not its cardinal feature.

Careful: IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion and while relatively frequent, specific tests are needed in order to diagnose it properly. Symptom checker algorithms have to be used carefully as they only suggest possible conditions, they are not diagnosing conditions. Would recommend checking in with your doc, stay well hydrated, bland diet.

: There are several drugs in this category(called TCAs) and as a class these drugs(Amitriptyline, Imipramine and Nortriptyline) are sometimes used as antidepressants. But these are old drugs and do not work well compared to more modern antidepressants.

Consider a bit of bowel training and the use of a manual rectal syringe for a small (1 cup) warm water enema in the morning. You will find the warm water encourages a more complete bowel movement and deodorizes the "terrible smelling gas". Add this to your morning routine and notice the improvement of symptoms.

so i have this constant pain on the right off my pelvic right near my ovaries. at firs i thought it was ovulation but now im on birth control i dont have a periods. thought it was ibs and got medication for it. my bloating stopped but pain didnt?
