Depends on symptoms: After a positive diagnosis of IBS made in conjunction with your Dr, the condition is best managed with reflection and change to diet, lifestyle. Medication options include; antispasmodics (Buscopan, Mebeverine) for pain, Loperamide for diarrhoea, Laxative for constipation and antidepressants (SSRI or TCA) which probably modify the body/mind pain processing and promote a feeling of wellbeing.
