More information : I’m sorry to say with the information provided I don’t really have a definitive answer. There are not a lot of anatomical structures in that side of the calcaneal bone. Now you could have discomfort on the cuboid calcaneal joint that’s different. That would require more information. No swelling or discoloration? Any difficulty walking?

Injury?: Is this a new pain?   Were you injured?   Do you have diabetes?   You could try elevating your foot above your heart and make an appointment with your doctor or podiatrist for evaluation and treatment.

Usually tendonitis: The prominent bone on the inside, arch area of the foot is where a very important tendon that holds up your arch is attached.  The sharp pain may be due to this created tendonitis.  Best to see your podiatrist and have it looked at, especially to rule out a fracture.

See details: The best approach is to have the foot evaluated by an orthopedist or even a podiatrist. There are several possible explanation for pain in that area of the foot. A common cause is sesmoiditis or inflammation of a bone until the great toe.

Look up neuroma : Most likely  a neuroma, you need better shoes, orthoticss, and padding to help.  Otherwise injections and surgery  are recommended.

i've had foot pain along the left side of my right foot for 3 weeks now, it just came on quite bad, when i was vaulting at gymnastics, it's causing me to get sad and upset as i can't do tumbling or vaulting bc of it, should i get it checked out?

3 week painful foot: Absolutely it should be seen by an orthopaedic  surgeon now. You may have a fracture which will worsen if it is not treated

If it is on the inside, then you may have injury to the nerve, or compression of the nerve to the ankle and foot.
