Knee pain: Your pain is likely secondary to patellofemoral syndrome or degenerative joint disease -- a thorough exam from your primary care provider (and maybe an xr) would be very helpful.  There are many successful treatment options for knee pain!

Meniscus: The meniscus is formed of tough, rubbery cartilage and acts as a shock absorber between your shinbone and thighbone. It can be torn if you suddenly twist your knee while bearing weight on it.

An ultrasound test can be used to confirm this. Treatment is either wait and watch or surgical removal of the cyst.

Something is wrong: but cannot say in your particular case, but generally, "barely carries my weight" does NOT improve with continually walking. Stiffness does and that is a function of the inflammatory fluid in the knee. Besides aleve (naproxen) and an acewrap, there's lots orthopedics can do.

Chondromalacia: There are several possibilities that could explain what is going on.These include patellar tendonitis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, patellofemoral syndrome, patellar chondromalacia,hamstring spasm amongst others. It is best to see a Sport medicine or PMR specialist for a thorough evaluation and referral to PT for quad training.In the meantime ice and anti-inflammatories as needed are recommended

Yes but unlikely.: 10 weeks is a good enough length of time for the tendons, muscles, &amp; cartilage off the knee to heal provided there was no tear or fracture. So the chances of RE-injuring your knee is low. Dancing can INJURE the knee (in a new way), of course. If you experience soreness or pain (anywhere- not just the knee), the 1st step for immediate treatment is to ice it - keep it cold. You can often do it daily
