last year i had very bad cellulitus on my left ankle and was hospitalized for three and a half weeks. i use topographic cream and moisturiser,how can i do more to prevent a recurrent episode happening? i am getting stinging pains, is this normal?

: Be sure to cover your feet/ankles except when bathing. Cellulitis can occur from even microscopic skin openings where bacteria can get in. Keeping your feet/ankles clean and moisturized to prevent dry skin cracking will help and then avoiding skin exposure will also help. Unfortunately, recurrence can still happen but these measures will help in prevention. Not sure what the stinging pain is from.

Time for eval: Any kid with breathing difficulty to the point it interferes with feeding or play should be evaluated for treatable illness. Kids don't have heart attacks but they can go into respiratory failure during illness. Arrange a visit now.

NSVD: It is possible to have a normal vaginal birth, but that will be up to you and your obstetrician at the time of delivery.

Yes although unusual: Natural history studies in the 1980's, before we had effective treatment for hiv, showed that the average person had HIV for about 10 years before becoming symptomatic. A few people progressed very rapidly and died in three years. This is why it is so important to be tested for HIV and find out early, so people can get on good treatment and get control over the hiv.

Too long!: A chronic cough needs to be investigated.  Please get checked. Also, avoid respiratory irritants: smoke, fragrances, aerosols, fumes from cooking and heating oils.  If your cough goes away with an antihistamine it is allergic.  One dose will tell if this is the case.  See a doc and sort this out.

Yes: Celiac disease is an IgA (antibody) mediated disease that can be tested through blood work. But a definitive diagnosis is best obtained through a biopsy sample taken during an endoscopic GI procedure. Hope this helps.

Fibroadenomas: of the breast, are benign solid tumors. If they grow, surgical removal is an option. Any breast mass should be examined and closely checked by your doctor, to be sure that no malignant potential is present.

Depends on symptoms: Most women go through menopause and end up just fine.  But there are different symptoms of menopause and some women have them all and some have none.  It depends on her symptoms and if there is anything else wrong at the same time.  For example, a diabetic woman may have more trouble than a non diabetic, etc.
