Trivial vs Serious: Usually  this is from passing a hard piece of stool or some other trauma.  It hurts, and goes away in short order.  If this does not stop in a few days or if the stream is hard, or if the bleeding is or becomes very heavy, a physician visit is in order; if you are losing a large amount of blood (more than a pint total), emergency room visit. Bleeding after BM: The most likely reason for pain and  bleeding after a bowel movement would be an anal fissure, or tear. This usually happens when a person tries to pass an unusually hard stool - as when we are constipated. The tissues tear a bit, and bleed. Hemorrhoids can bleed also. I think you should go to the er if the bleeding is heavy (unlikely). But do talk to your doctor about this problem. Lgromkomd.

If it persists: Bleeding form the anus is one of the know complications of anal sex. It should go away in day or so. You may help the healing process by keeping your stool soft by taking a fiber laxative and drinking plenty of water. It bleeding persists beyond a week, see a doctor.

Anal Fissure: It is blood.  Blood has sugar in it.  You have a tear in your rectum. If there is ongoing bleeding, pain or a fever you must be seen by your physician.

See MD if repeated: many entities can cause - commonly constipation (mucous flow around blockage), but also others like infection, inflammation, gut food allergies, tumors. If this is recurrent, be sure to followup with ur doctor. Red flags requiring more urgent workup would be pain, blood, fever, weight loss, age&gt;50, positive family history of colorectal cancer, and prior polyps/colon cancer. Avoid milk for now

Perhaps you are wiping too hard -- go easy, or perhaps use moist towelettes or moisten toilet tissue with water.
