: Does not sound cardiac to me, and more likely you have a left carpal tunnel syndrome or a left C6 nerve involvement.  Followup cervical MRI and a left arm EMG will localize and substantiate severity and provide guide for further intervention.  Talk to your doctor about your heart concerns, unlikely but just to be safe.

Consider Heart Issue: Any form of chest discomfort should be evaluated to rule out a heart issue. Other causes could include blood clots in the lungs, or simpler and more benign conditions such as ribcage/chest wall pain. It is important to see a doctor if your fingers have had discoloration. If wrist pain is present, this could be carpal tunnel syndrome, especially since it is primarily your index finger and thumb.

Mystery: Your year long syndrome deserves better than a 2 line description (your part) and wild guessing (our part). A thorough evaluation is necessary. If the UK system allows you to go to a university for a comprehensive evaluation, I would recommend that.

: Get electro myogram  for left carpel tunnel syndrome,  in the mean time you can use wrist splint and if your doctor will like to use diuretic if appropriate. Hope it helps.

Nerve entrapement: See your family doctor and he will probably order a nerve conduction test to see what is going on.  It could be a problem at the wrist, elbow, or shoulder

Neurologisr: There are many possible causes. The presence of weakness and numbness strongly suggest that nerves are being compressed in the arm. This could eminate fron the neck or from nerve entrapment at the elbow ( cubital tunnel syndrome). A neurologist can diagnose this with elctrical studies and radiographic imagiong as needed.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Cervicalgia: I would recommend a through evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon.   Evaluation and radiographic studies will be needed to elucidate the source of your pain.

: May be nerve entrapment/ impingement (being compressed) at neck level or thoracic outlet  ( near collarbone)  or may be due to vascular compression at neck/ collarbone bone or chest lesion. May also be due to condition like  autoimmune disease , vitamin deficiency ( B12) , or multiple sclerosis . Would follow up with  MD for complete evaluation including  Chest x-ray , possible MRIs. blood work.
