PROBABLY NORMAL: During a normal monthly menses (a period) a woman sloughs off the endometrial (uterus) lining. Blood, small clots and other debris are normal. Another possibility is a very early pregnancy/miscarriage which are very common and usually go unnoticed.  A preganancy test may still test positive in some cases.

Vaginal secretions: Usually this is normal vaginal secretions that serve to lubricate and keep the pH (acidity) stable.  Rarely this can be from a connection between the bladder and vagina, but that would not just occur during your monthly cycle, and would usually cause other problems like recurrent bladder infections.

Trichomonas? : You should consider getting a culture and micro analysis of the discharge, anything greenish could be a Trichomonas or bacterial infection, see your OB/Gyn, usually clears with Flagyl

BV?: You may have bacterial vaginosis (BV), this usually presents with clear, watery discharge with fishy odor. BV is often caused by period in a woman already colonized with the bacteria responsible for this, as the bleeding will change the acidity of the vagina allowing the bacteria to overgrow. See your family doctor or ob/gyn for evaluation and treatment.

Not exactly sure: If i understand your question. But if you are in the middle of your period, you can't suddenly stop it for the convenience of sexual intercourse without bleeding. If i didn't answer your question - please clarify and re-askl.

Probably not: The flow you are describing would not be considered normal, and needs treatment.  Any time you are late for your period, you have to make sure you are not pregnant.  The bleeding you describe could be an early miscarriage.  If a pregnancy test is negative, you probably have a hormonal disturbance that will require medicine to correct.  You should see a women's healthcare provider, right away.

after starting my period this morning, i noticed my tampon was a very stained neon color with only some brown/red blood with no itching/discomfort.

Not sure: I am not sure what color neon is or where on the tampon this occurred, however,  vitamins and medications can discolor the urine and bodily secretions which may make this finding occur.  I would recommend collecting the tampon in a baggie and bring it to the doctor if you have concerns.  The doctor can examine the tampon and your vagina for further clues as to why this is occurring.

Depends: If this what you always have had for a period then yes. But, if this a changing and worsening condition, then you need an exam. You could have polyps, adenomyosis, hyperplasia, and less likely cancer.  If prolonged , you could develop anemia.

Irregular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections, polyps, fibroids and   hormonal changes can cause spotting.  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

You need evauation: That is not normal, you need to see your gyn , so your gyn can do an exam , the proper blood work and a pelvic ultrasound. Depending on what heh cause is, you may be a candidate for bcpills or Progesterone or a newer medicine called Lysteda that will slow your bleeding, or you may need an office hysteroscopy and biopsy of the lining of the uterus.. Endometrial ablation is another possible option.
