Throat clearing: Throat clearing doesn't necessarily have to do with the lungs. Commonly, it is secondary to postnasal drip which is commonly seen in hose with allergies. It may also have to do with gastroesophageal reflux disease. If both of these problems have been looked into it may be worthwhile to speak with your physician about a chest x-ray and a pulmonary function test.

why are my lungs producing so much mucus?
i have had a productive cough for about three weeks, but also have to clear my throat very often to clear the mucus out of my throat. already had covid two months ago?

: It may be that the mucus is not coming from your lungs, but from post nasal drip from your sinuses. Try warm saline nasal washes to clear out the debris, mucus and any bacteria from your nasopharynx and sinuses. You can also try a decongestant to help drain those areas.

i have to clear my throat quite often throughout the day because i have thick mucus in the back of my throat that looks like snot when i spit it out.i have no other symptoms.it is worse in am.how do i know if it's coming from lungs or nasal?

Allergies.: That sounds like allergies.  Nasal congestion, runny nose, cough, post-nasal drop, headache, facial pains and earache can be triggered by fragrances, dust mites (sweeping the floor), grass, trees, pets, environmental molds and such.  There are outdoor and indoor allergens.  See a doctor soon, here or locally, as there are medications that may help.

i have had prob with pnd for years.mucus is so thick, i drink a lot of h2o & clear my throat often, so deep that metal taste comes from lungs, why?

PND: Pnd can be a combination of several things... Allergy, sinusitis, reflux (gerd) or other more obscure issues like thyroid disorders, sjogren's, sarcoidosis, dental disease, zenker's diverticulum, esophagitis, etc. See an ENT specialist to sort them out.

i went to the doctor 2 days ago for cough/cold- told it is viral & lungs clear.  my throat was diagnosed as "red". it still hurts. should i go back?

Dr. can recheck: Throat symptoms can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or other virus (antibiotics usually not used), allergies or irritants, sinusitis, stomach reflux when asleep, etc. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep and review the story). A rapid strep throat test takes 5 minutes.

: Heavy mucus if from your lungs is a symptom of significant bronchial inflammation and you are likely much sicker, not just only a wet cough. Post nasal drainage from sinusitis is still suspected even you think you do not have sinusitis. Stomach reflux (GERD) is another source, especially if symptom is more pronounced on supine position.
Take Allegra (OTC) for 3 days as a therapeutic diagnosis.

when i blow my nose i have bloody boogers, i clear my throat and have blood streaks 25 yrs old 9 yr smoke history, lung cancer??

No: Lung cancer is not in the nose. cannot say in your particular case, but generally, irritations in the nose are from minor problems. This nosebleed can drain downward especially at night and cause blood streaked sputum.
Sinusitis can be helped with antibiotics.

Congratulations: Wow!  good for you to give up smoking.  The throat clearing can be a combo of an old habit and your body detoxing.  Sugar free gum can help you create saliva which will moisten things a bit and also temp. Replace the old oral part of smoking as a prevention.  Check w/your doc too.
