i accidentally took two 40mg tablets of lisinopril and am just wondering if i should be worried about my blood pressure i am supposed to take only 40 but i forgot i took one earlier today please help?

: It sounds like you took the 2 doses hours apart from each other so this should not be a problem. If you have a blood pressure cuff at home, you could monitor your blood pressure. If not, monitor for symptoms like dizziness and lightheadedness. But, since you took the second dose hours from the first dose, you should be fine. Re-start the med at the proper time tomorrow. No: He should go to an er and be seen now.  Do not delay. He could be critically ill.

around two weeks ago, i was quite ill, and laid low for a few days. i have a diagnosis of hypertension, and take lisinopril for treatment. however, my blood pressure was low, and remains lower. i haven't taken my medication since, should i resume?

: I would check BP SEATED , standing and after standing 10 tips up and down on toes. If falls note than 20 report numbers to your Dr and ask what to do. High blood pressure at your age is very rare. Always base diagnosis in 3 BP readings on 3 different days at least 1 week apart. Be certain those measuring BP are following guidelines to get an accurate one. Most don’t . can i take two lisinopril/hctz 20-25 for blood pressure instead of taking one lisinopril 40. my body gets so bloated when i stop taking the diuretic. ?

Substitution?: You need to speak to your physician (P) about your feeling bloated when you stop taking diuretics. Your P knows you best and is the one you should ask to answer your question. You should ask about taking lisinopril 40 mg with 25 mg of HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) once/daily. Good luck.

Needs to tell doctor: It is important that someone goes with her to see her doctor and very soon. If her blood pressure is dropping too low at night then the medication may need to be stopped. If she is confused when this happens she may not be able to give the doctor an accurate history of what is happening. Please call the office and let them know what is happening, they may stop the medicine even before they see her

BP meds: This is an expected drop in blood pressure after taking lisinopril. The efficacy of blood pressure medications depends on the cause and can be variable between patients.  This is on the higher side ("high" drop in blood pressure).  If you have symptoms of LOW BP (dizziness, blurry vision, weakness, nausea, sweating) then you may skip the next dose and notify your doctor.  Kudos for monitoring!

i just took my blood pressure and it is 187/108 i am on 20 mg lisinopril and 25mg hydrochloralthiazide, after 2 weeks my bp has increased despite lowering sodium and more exercise. is there any way the meds above could increase bp instead of lower?

: The meds wouldn’t increase your blood pressure but, if your blood pressure is consistently increased, you nay need a higher dose of one or both of these meds. Is there some other reason why your blood pressure is higher? Some stressor? If so, you may need to work on that to get your blood pressure under control. You should call your doctor to review your numbers. Good luck!

Difficult to say: You take the pills and it will vary as to the effect on your blood pressure. Depends on your activity and what you have been doing. Usually these can have an effect as soon as 90 minutes but if this is a pill you have taken it will take over time to actually lower the blood pressure and depend on multiple factors. The importance is in taking it on a regular basis as prescribed and then follow BP.
