We are still understanding how it works and in general it regulates the communication of immune cells / lymphocytes. More precisely, it reduces toll-like receptors signaling, which reduces immune cell activation and inflammation.

Despite the fact that what you describe is not officially under it's side effect profile, it still could be causing your symptoms.

The less the lbm, the greater the danger of Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) toxicity, including retinal and liver problems. This is a complex problem, and you should definitely seek immediate evaluation by your provider and follow up to avoid exacerbating your vasculitis or eye probs.

on humira q 14 days x 8 months ra. it is losing effectiveness. adding plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) 200mg bid. is this a good approach? when will i begin to feel better?

Not really: Methotrexate or Arava (leflunomide) would be much better options as additions to humira. If that does not work, one can always change to another biologic but i would increase the Humira injections to once weekly before giving up on it.

I am not sure what : P.A. is. I personally do not use plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) for psoriasis as it has been link with causing flare or outbreak for psoriasis. I would recommend to choose other DMARDs or biological esp there are a lot of choices now.
