has anyone ever taken pain medication hydroxychloroquine?

Not a pain med: Many people with mild rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or lupus respond to hydroxychloroquine. It is not a pain medication. The key is to have the rheumatologist assess whether the Hydroxychloroquine is adequately controlling the RA to prevent progression as progression can lead to deformity. If the diagnosis is lupus, control needs to be measured also.

i have noticed increase of my ra symptoms and pain even while taking hydroxychloroquine.
should i be increasing the current dose for relief or should medication be changed for some other type?

Ask your doc.: Your rheumatologist chose hydroxychloroquine as a treatment because she/he felt it was the best choice for you, based on your symptoms and overall health condition. However, not all medications work the same way in everyone. How long you have been taking it?  This medication can take from 1 to 6 months to work. Call your doctor and tell him/her you are worse.  He/she needs to know that.

: There are no medications of any kind, nor any medical conditions, that change the reliability of the modern HIV blood tests, in particular the AgAb ("4th generation") and HIV RNA tests. Your negative test result proves you do not have HIV, regardless of these or any other drugs or medical conditions you may have. No worries!

it makes me feel very nausea and head ache i don't know if i want to continue this medication .

None: There is no known interaction between plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) and birth control.  Both can cause nausea and vomiting.  Combing the two may increase nausea and vomiting.  Do not discontinue without talking with your physician.

i'm using plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) 200mg and prednisone 10mg for rheumatoid arthritis, can i take vitamin c while using these medications.

Re-evaluate: If you are having fatigue, joint swelling and pain while on Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) and Prednisone you may want to re-evaluate your total treatment. Vitamin c with bioflavanoids together with a high quality curcurmin and boswelia can block histamine and cytokines found elevated in rheumatoid arthritis. It is also helpful to eat foods that are anti-inflammatory,  optimize vit d3, and manage stress skillfully.

i've lupus (sle), r.a., raynaud's syndrome, anemia, &hypertension. i take methotrexate, plaquenil, (hydroxychloroquine) neurontin & lisinopril/hctz. i'm told i've decreased kidney function.is that because of the medication?

Probably not: Lupus usually damages the kidneys and hypertension always does to some extent. Not all "decreased kidney function" picked up by today's lab screenings is real kidney damage -- any guy who lifts weights will get a warning from the creatinine from his muscles -- but i'd keep with your rx. Good luck -- this is a challenging disease.

Various: While it may not cure or improve sjogren's significantly, you might expect slowing the progression of your symptoms, such as dryness of your eyes, mouth, throat and other mucosal surfaces (nose, for example).

Depends...: Depends on what you are being treated for....Methotrexate,Humira,Ilaris,Imuran,Enbrel,Arava,Cimzia,Remicade,Stelara,Simponi (golimumab) last but not the least....Xeljanz....which is a tablet.

Only .01% have: That means that 1 in 10,000 people taking plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) reported having a false positive result on a urine drug screen. If that happens to anyone w/ a Rx for it - I'll wager that it would be recognized as an error and no bad consequences would happen for the individual. Don't worry. Best!
