Here are some ...: Are you sure she has hydrocele which solely occur inside men's scrotum? There has been no known oral remedy for its relief but surgery - hydrocelectomy if needed. Yet, it's known nothing like using any medicine is free but always comes with a price, i.e., possible, unpredictable, certain side effects in few if its user. Yet, hydrocele with no significant mental/physical handup may need NO surgery.

Hydrocele: Most are repaired with a trans scrotal incision and the side effects are minimal as well as the scar. The most common complication is simple recurrence and this can be corrected but often resolves on it's own with time.

Will not resolve: Unless younger than 1-year-of-age. Sympoms are that hydrocele enlarges during the day when subject is up and about and reduces in size when recumbent. Will also enlarge and can be uncomfortable or even painful with coughing or sneezing.

: Hydrocele is a collection of fluid inside the  sac enclosing the testicle. It has some known-e.g. trauma, infection causes and some unknown. The fluid is secreted from the inner lining of the sac.

Maybe indefinitely: Hydroceles that are not bothersome do not require surgery.  Only have a corrective operation for this benign condition if it is painful or it is cosmetically problematic for you.

1 - 3 weeks: Depends upon size of hydroceles and age of patient.  Young prepubertal boys should recover within a week.  Recovery can be much longer after puberty and depends upon size of hydroceles and postoperative activity and use or not of a compression dressing.

i've heard that if you shine a strong light through your sac and see it on the other side then it is a hydrocele. is this accurate?

Transillumination: Bright light shining through a scrotal swelling usually means that a hydrocele is present, however transillumination also occurs if there is a testicular tumor in addition to the hydrocele. Thus not a completely reliable sign and does not replace accuracy of scrotal ultrasound.

Hydrocele: Generally, hydroceles alone are not aggravated by physical activity.  If the hydrocele is secondary to infection or inflammation of the epididymis or testis, you might aggravate it by weight lifting however.

Yes: Yes, if a man has bilateral hydroceles that warrant surgical intervention, it is possible to do both sides under the same anesthetic.

Accepted Answer

Probably not: Hydrocele is a common problem and ca usually be corrected without incident. However, it must be evaluated by a urologist to confirm the diagnosis and discuss the risks/benefits/ and side effects in your particular case. Get into a urologist so you can get this resolved!:)
