Not hunger pains.: Abdominal pain can be due to lots of things, besides hunger!  If food does not help, then hunger is not the cause.  Try an antacid and stop any new over-the-counter meds or supplements. If this does not help or the pain gets worse, get seen right away.  For now, avoid caffeine, spicy food, high fat foods, too. No  Splenda and sorbitol (artificial sweeteners in many foods, drinks, gum, mints).

Hunger pain: you may have gastritis.  The fact that eating helps may be because the food is buffering the stomach acid.  Try an antiacid or an OTC medication such as Zantac (ranitidine) for a few days to see I'd it helps.  If your symptoms worsen on medication or persist, this could indicate a possible infection of the stomach or ulcer.  This needs further evaluation.

Not really: Peptic ulcer disease usually manifests with hunger like pain.  The condition often cause by Helicobacter pylori infection.  While strain abdominal muscles can't produce look like pain, the pain is more of a dull, achy pain, reproduced with position, not hunger like pain.

Is it IBS: First step - is it ibs or could it be acid related. Have you tried Omeprazole for 2 weeks? If that helps, you need an upper endoscopy.

drink lots of water: Sometimes you may feel like you are hungry when in reality you are just dehydrated. Drink plenty of water and if you still feel hungry then you are actually hungry.

Acidity: Does it persist throughout the entire day, does it come and go, does it improve or worsen with food are questions your doctors will ask you. Bottom line, it shouldn't persist for that long unless you are having increased acidity secondary to acid indigestion or possibly GERD. To see if acidity is the culprit, try to take an antacid like Zantac (ranitidine) 150mg, if that doesn't help follow up with your Doctor

Possible Ulcer: The first thing that comes to mind with this description is an ulcer.  The often get better with food and then may actually get worse a little while after eating. Could be gastritis or even sometimes anxiety can cause these symptoms.  Would need to know a little more.  You may need some additional tests and possible and endoscopy to answer this thoroughly.

i have a pain in my stomach that feels like intense hunger pain. i have found that it is best relieved by pain pills. what could cause this?

Find cause instead: Lots of causes of "stomach pain", but epigastric burning &amp; pain after meals raises the probability of gastritis &amp; ulcers. Stop any non-prescribed nsaid's or aspirin; cut out tobacco &amp; alcohol; start an otc acid reducer (like Prilosec otc, Prevacid (lansoprazole) 24hr). Seek emergency care if lightheaded, worsening symptoms, vomiting coffee ground material or passing black stool or blood. Pancreatitis possible?

Could be gallbladder: Reflux, ulcers, constipation/obstipation, diverticulosis, mittleschmertz, and a bunch of other things.  Resubmit your question and give details on location of pain: left, right or middle, upper or lower abdomen, how severe, worse after food?, gassy?/burping more? Diarrhea or cramping after fatty foods?  Blood in stools? Are your stools hard like rocks/marbles? Then we can help you better!

Food sensitivities : It depends on what you ate for that meal and earlier in the last day.  If this is recurrent you may be sensitive to certain foods, i would consider keeping a food diary to see what foods make you feel this way.  Sometimes increased fiber can cause symptoms of you don't usually have it, once you know what it is you can try an elimination diet.
