hi. i have a bad case of jock itch for 8 years. it itches like crazy mainly  if i eat bread or anything sweet. i tried tea tree oil, and applied it directly on it. it burned like hell, but the next day it was gone. now it's back. what do i do?

Stop self treating: Get examined. You will need to stop any oils which will "lock in" any fungal infection. You will need to be examined,placed on both oral antifungal antibiotic and a cream that contains antifungal and cortisone medications. 8 years is a bit absurd...and you now have a chronic skin condition. Consider a dermatology evaluation.

Yes: Tea-tree oil is great on the skin for fungal infections such as Jock itch.   It can be used on the buttocks and on the labia majora.  It can also be used inside the vagina  as a 20% solution on a tampon and left in over-night, though there are better medications for this.  Best wishes!

Jock itch troubles: Neither a Z-pack or clindamycin will help jock itch - in fact, those medicines could make it worse. Jock itch is a FUNGAL infection, so you need an antifungal. Obviously the tea-tree oil hasn't worked so you need something better. There are over the counter creams/sprays you could try - like clotrimazole 1%. Or ask your doc for a stronger pill - fluconazole should wipe it out. Then u can have sex.

No, its bacterial: trichomycosis sounds fungal but is caused by Corynebacterium. You've taken the most important step towards treatment but after just shaving once it usually comes back. Shave for 3 weeks and use Benzoyl peroxide gel or wash which will help clear the infection and prevent recurrence. Antiperspirant helps.  Topical antibiotics clindamycin or erythromycin are very effective, antifungal naftifine works

Tea tree oil.: Melaleuca oil is from southeast asia and has been claimed to have some antibacterial activity, but whether this has been proven to be an effective therapeutic agent is open to some question.  You can try this, and the only real damage it will create is to your wallet.

Probably: It's not harmful, but it is ineffective.  Therefore, by not treating BV with appropriate medications and hygiene, you are causing yourself harm. So using an ineffective treatment is dangerous because it postpones appropriate treatment. Bv can occur when the natural vaginal flora is disrupted, such as by douching. So this is an all around bad idea.

docs can you explain, is it safe to use tea tree oil drops added to toothpaste and mouthwash?

Safe?: As long as you do not swallow it you should be safe however your teeth are another issue. The oil may leave a film on the tooth that will make it easier for the bacterial colonies to form and harder for you to brush them off so if it were my mouth i would not use it.
