: Fever in an adult is any temperature over 100.8. Occasionally people experience flushing of their face which makes it feel hot. this can be due to hormones, exertion, fight or flight reactions, and many more causes. If there is no fever, there is no reason to treat it. If you are uncomfortable with the flushing or heat, try applying a cool wet washcloth to make your skin feel cooler.

More likely irritant: Nasal congestion at that age is most often due to exposure to fragrance, dust, smoke or other odors.This often causes swelling inside the nose & mucous buildup. Saline nose wash used in liberal amounts will often clear this up.

my son is complaining when he wee's in his diaper and even goes as far as to say its painful.  he is 1 1/2 years old.  if he has an infection how can i treat it at home.  he has no fever but the pain have lasted longer than 3 days?

Depends: UTI's are unusual in male toddlers.They are almost always limited to the uncircumcised or those with abnormal urinary tracts which will show up in the first months though it can happen later. UTI's will generally also generate fever.That said, it does happen and an office visit/testing  will be worthwhile to sort out the issue.

my babies complain of common cold how can i treat them without medication ( they are 6 months ) there is no fever just runing nose and congestion?

saline: Cold meds we use as adults or with older kids reduce drainage by using meds that dry ; thicken the drainage.Babies are dependent on narrow nasal passages that will block with thickened drainage. Your best rx for infants is to use generous amounts of saline nose wash and occasional suction to keep their nasal passages clear. Clean it as often as needed ; avoid all the stuff for old kids.

my son was treated for strep with an injection about 3 weeks ago. his tonsils are still swollen to the point of touching. no fever not sore. what now?

Hydrate/nourish: In general there are no effective treatments for cough/cold symptoms in that age group. Studies in the US found more kids admitted to ER's from accidental overdoses of these meds than ever benefited from their use. We stopped using them decades ago. A little honey &amp; lemon juice every few hours helps a cough. Good nutrition &amp; hydration supports fast healing.

Rash: I would consider the most likely cause of this diffuse macular eruption to be a viral infection, especially if there is no itching. An allergic reaction is another possibility, even without itching. Can you pinpoint any triggers? Medications, supplements, foods? A dermatologist could evaluate and advise you if the rash persists.

many gnat bites on scalp 6 days ago. itch & draining. painful swollen nodes back of scalp and neck, esp neck. how to treat? no fever or cellulitis.

? could be infection: Drainage implies infection of your scalp/skin. If it is yellowish discharge then it certainly is infection which will require antibiotics by mouth. Go see your doctor . Itching can be relieved with Benadryl (diphenhydramine) capsules(may make you sleepy). If it is more than a small area(less than one inch) which is draining, you need to see a doctor to help you treat it better.

treated with zithromax 5pack last week for pneumonia. finished meds sat. lung still hurts and i still feel unwell. no fever though. should i see doc?

Inform your Doctor: The doctor who gave you treatment with zithromax should be informed about your present condition. A repeat chest x-ray may be useful to check your pneumonia to see if it is better or worse. It does take a couple of weeks for the pneumonia to resolve. But your doctor would like to know the results of his treatment on you.

Parvovirus B19: You are accurately describing erythema infectiosum caused by infection with parvovirus b19.  He will probably develop a lacy rash on arms or trunk within a few days.  It is also called slapped face fever.  The overwhelming majority of these infections are benign and self-limited and require no treatment.
