See Periodontist: A periodontist can help you control the aggressive forms of perio disease. Oral dna testing can tell you what specific pathogens are present and what antibiotics can help. Non-surgical (scaling & root planing) and surgical therapies (osseous surgery) may be suggested. Continual follow up with the hygienist or periodontist and maintaining prescribed home care & hygiene visits are paramount.

No teeth: If you loose all your teeth, there are 3 options:  live that way, get removable dentures, or get implants placed and an appropriate prosthesis attached to the implants to replace your teeth.

The best preventive measure for periodontitis (gum disease) is removing the bacteria colonies from your teeth and gums especially in between teeth. Use soft tooth brush and floss twice a day. Concentrate on one tooth at a time, take your time. At first you will have some bleeding & soreness due to the infection.

Periodontal disease is a bacterial infection, it takes a dentist, hygienist or periodontist along with the patient to attain great results.

This has to be treated daily to reduce the bacteria and I have found that using perioprotect trays (simple to wear, non-surgical treatment) my patients have obtained great results.
