Treating fungus...: Treating fungus in nails is challenging and takes at least 6-8 weeks. If you are young and healthy and the nails are just yellow - applying antifungal cream (like lamisil) to the nails twice daily. Or see your doctor for pills.Once the nail is thickend and deformed, or if you are diabetic it is much harder to treat. Applying vick's to the nails every night will soften them & make them less painful.

Toenails: Depending on which toenail it is it usually takes upto 1 year or longer for a toenails to regrow.  Normal diet is important as are other medical conditions such as diabetes.  Folic acid and vit. B supplements may help.

Baby toe: There is no history of trauma here but i suspect there was as you say it is bloody under the nail.  If the area is moist or draining keep a topical antibiotic and band aid in place and see your podiatrist.

If painful, yes.: A severely fungally infected toenail is often thickened, ingrown and chronically painful.  If this is the case, then removal in a permanent manner can "cure" the problem.  Permanent nail removal involves a second step beyond simple nail removal.

Yes: Yes, but make sure you are wearing shoes that are either open toe or loose fitting in the toe area. Tight shoes will hurt your toe by the end of the day.

Toe nail surgery: Usually after toe nail surgery...You are able to bear weight....Immediately.  But, if you are to active you will flush out your local anesthetic.... I recommend staying off your foot for the day of surgery...And then resuming your activity as tolerated...But, keep it clean and covered...Be sure to confirm this with the doctor who is doing your surgery...Procedures vary...

No: Removal of a toenail is a simple procedure and usually performed using only local anesthesia.  Depending on how much walking you do for your job you may only need to be off 1 day. If the doctor is going to remove the growth plate of the nail this may require more sedation as well as local anesthesia. There will be more time needed off work perhaps 3-4 days.
