HAVE MORE PROTEIN: Consume foods rich in proteins- long list- usually animal products- greek yogurt excellent source, eggs, protein shakes, fish, chicken, turkey.....

can blood stay concentrated or increase in concentration over time if one is not a good water drinker, possibly being the reason blood protein levels consistently go up? my total protein remained in the normal range despite this, until recently.

Need more info: Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless.

had a blood test to follow up on my liver enzymes. noticed my calcium level increased from 9.3 to 10.2. read that raised levels of albumin can increase calcium levels slightly, is that true? my protein level also increased from 6.7 to 8.1?

: Your Calcium level, although fluctuating,. it is still in the normal range. You are right that blood protein levels can alter the values.
I do not think there is anything wrong( with your test results), they are in the range of values which we use for a normal test result.
If concerned you can get the serum Calcium rechecked. Unless the value goes up above 10.50, I would not be worried.

Depends: Why is it being checked so frequently?  Generally this is not a problem, but could be indicative of something brewing.  Whoever drew the lab test should be helping you understand whether this is something to be concerned about or not.

By definition: The blood components are by definition a group of cells and proteins suspended in water with minerals. Any reduction in the water component would elevate the relative amount of the other components. Clinicians will look at this in context. It takes a lot of dehydration to elevate any other component significantly &amp; dehydration to that point is quite obvious. It low levels it is insignificant.

Stop worrying: I am going to trust that there is no other evidence of plasma cell myeloma, and I am betting you were simply a little bit dehydrated / thirsty when your blood was drawn. If you feel well otherwise, and serum albumin was within normal limits, just get rechecked in a year.

Find cause: Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies fall outside on either side. If the low protein is way-low or persists, your physician will look for an explanation. Nothing you can eat or do wil affect it.
