It would be better: If you specified which ligament. One of the reasons for a delay in improvement is the fact we walk on feet and use them when walking. This may cause delayed healing. There is a possibility of an occult or hidden injury as well.

LIgament surgery: Infection, instability, blood flood, poor nutrition (albumin, pre-albumin, etc), smoking, alcohol, etc.

Yes: If u sprained your ankle ligament(s)it depends on the severity of the sprain. Generally an acute more severe ankle sprain can be tx. In a cam walker for 7-10 days followed by a period of mobilization/bracing and therapy. Severe( grade3.)ankle sprains may take 4-6 wks. To heal. See your ors.

It depends: For minor and moderate tears you can use crutches , for large tears you need splint or cast . Your doctor can order these for you. You can also take otc pain killers from your local pharmacies.

These can also be broken in two or more pieces in an injury. Bone is seen on x-ray; ligaments need an MRI to be visualized.

Rest, time, PT, Rx: Midfoot ligament tear will heal with rest and minimal immobilization. Ultrasound therapy is helpful.  Injecting platelet rich plasma may help.  An NSID is ok if you are able to tolerate the drug.  I like the idea of your wearing a brace - it serves as a reminder to rest the foot.

It depends.: Bone healing usually takes 6-8 weeks depending on the type and location of the fracture.  Each person has a different healing potential depending on age and overall health.  Factors that may speed your recovery include: immobilization, elevation, good nutrition, follow your physicians’ instructions and do not smoke.

Injections have some good and some bad associated with them, without getting into that immobilization or a period of non weight bearing MIT be smart if a ligament is torn, continued walking will not give it a chance to heal even if it was injected. Ice region of pain.

Steroid injection: A steroid injection for a torn ligament is usually not the best treatment. Rest, ice,compression and elevation with immobilization is the standard treatment for a ligament tear.

Shouldn't be walking: If you have a torn ligament then your foot should be in a brace or a cast until you are seen by an orthopedic surgeon.  Keep the foot at a 90 degree angle constantly gives it a better chance of holding together and healing.  This cannot be accomplished without some external structure.
