18: You have to be at least 18, but it is likely that you will need to be older as your prescription has to stabilize before you can get laser vision correction.

Accepted Answer

Bad enough: To require glasses or contact lenses to see better.  If you don't need glasses or contacts, you don't need lasik.  If you do require glasses or contacts, then lasik is a possibility for you.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Fda trials of lasik in the us involved patients 21 years or older.  If patients are adequatly informed,  the prescription is low, and the prescription is stable lasik could be considered at earlier ages.  If the latter two points are not met.  Enhancement surgeries may be needed down the road.

Check with surgeon: LASIK generally gives reasonably clear vision by one week post treatment.  It sounds like your  vision is blurry beyond the usual.  You probably have already had a visit with the LASIK surgeon but if the blur is still present, another look is reasonable.

Yes: Pinguecula have no impact on your ability to have lasik.

18: Lasik eye surgery is fda approved for people who are at least 18. In addition your eye glass prescription should be stable for 2 years prior to considering lasik.  Some eye conditions make lasik not a good option. Your eye doctor is best able to help you decide when and if you are candidtate for lasik.

could someone with chronic uveitis also get lasik?

Maybe: If the uveitis is controlled and there is no issue with cataract or glaucoma, lasik may be an option.  The reason for the uveitis would also would need to be evaluated and may affect the decision to proceed with lasik.  All other measurements would also have to be acceptable as well.

can it be possible to get better vision than 20/20 from lasik?

Accepted Answer

Lasik better than 20: Yes.  Many of my lasik and prk patients have ended up better than 20/20 in one or both eyes.  That is a high expectation to have, but we always aim for the best possible results.  Healing happens individually and it is hard to predict outcomes 100% of the time because people heal differently. I recommend all laser lasik if you are considering it, which I use exclusively for my lasik patients.

will my eyesight get worse over time after having lasik surgery?

It should not: There can be  regression and the procedure may need to be readjusted but rarely does  vision deteriorate.
