Threader/proxibrush: You should be able to floss (although it is more difficult) by using floss threaders to loop the floss under the arch wire. I like the type made by butler/gum. You can also pick up a proxibrush. The same company makes many varieties, shapes, sizes. It looks like a small bottle brush on a handle. Go to a drug store and browse the dental hygiene aids aisle, you'll find all this stuff and more to help.

: Swollen gums result from either mechanical irritation or infection. Make sure you are using a soft toothbrush and simple toothpaste without whiteners or other irritating ingredients. Rinse well and avoid acidic foods. The swelling should go down in a few days.

Get an exam and xrays to see the difference of what you have.

Massaging your gums when you brush your teeth can help, however, you need a dental cleaning that includes 'scaling' or cleaning any hard deposits off your teeth.
