Dental Cleaning : You may have gingivitis- an infection of the gums causing bleeding and swelling. You may also have periodontitis-an infection of the bone surrounding your teeth. Only a dentist can diagnosis these conditions. Massaging your gums when you brush your teeth can help, however, you need a dental cleaning that includes 'scaling' or cleaning any hard deposits off your teeth.

No relation: Being a vegan should not cause you to have swollen gum. Food impaction due to high carb diet may leads to gingival inflammation and thus having swollen gum. A good oral hygiene home care (brushing and flossing) should help. Schedule with your dentist to treat the food impaction problems(gaps and open contacts and faulty restoration) along with teeth cleaning is recommended.
