Strength training : Builds lean muscle mass which increases your metabolism allowing you to burn more calories for the same workout and you can make weight training a cardio event as well.  Yoga can allow you to better focus on your goal while maintaining  flexibility with your exercising to help minimize muscle aches and injuries for a well balanced workout of body and mind!

You : You sound like you have 'occasional episodic dyspnea' and it might be suggestive of 'sigh' that is physiological about 6-8 times per hour in normal humans... Simply means longer and deeper breath or two, periodically. If it is more than this or not exactly how I am inferring your question to be, or shortness of breath is more of a concern, then it very well be that you need a 'work up' and evaluation. Talking to a good pulmonologist to check your lung function tests and imaging studies may be a good place to start.

May not be your hip: Snapping hip syndrome may be due to an external cause (eg., snapping of the iliotibial band or gluteus maximus over the greater trochanter) or an internal cause (eg., snapping of the iliopsoas tendon over the iliopectineal eminence, acetabular labral tear, intra-articular loose body). Sometimes ultrasound performed during maneuvers that replicate the click can be helpful to discriminate.

Either: Both walking and biking produce positive cardiovascular changes. The magnitude of this positive effect is based on the intensity, which can be measured by heart rate, and duration. Shoot for 30min of moderately vigorous exercise most days of the week, as recommended by ACSM, ACA. Heart rate target should be 60-85% of estimated max heart rate (start lower and work up over time). Exercise: Both are good ways to exercise.  It depends a little as to your height, weight, condition of your joints, and your current physical health.  I generally recommend to patients to start with a gentle exercise program, gradually building over time. For walking, find a comfortable route, or treadmill, proper shoes, start slow in time and speed. Gradually advance. Same with biking. Don't rush to be fit.

sometimes my groin will go numb while i'm riding the exercise bike. today, it did this while i was walking. what do i do??

Pudendal nerve: Try lowering the nose of the seat on the bicycle. The seat may be pressing on the pudendal nerve. You may also try to get better cushioning on the seat. You could consider a different exercise like stair climber rather than exercise bike. 
It is good that you exercise and find a way to continue it.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

how effective is riding a recumbent bike for weight loss? i also walk but i like to watch a movie while i ride the bike in the evenings.

Would be good!: Any sort of aerobic activity, done at least half an hour, would help with weight loss.  You may not burn as much on a recumbent bike, but if the alternative is not doing anything, the bike is much preferred. Kudos for taking the first step to better health!

Knee Cap: It sounds like you are having problems with your Patella or knee cap being out of its normal tracking.  This can cause pain with the movements you are describing.  You need to see a doctor.  Bracing can help, but sometimes surgical release is needed.  My daughter is an elite dancer and needed surgery on both knees to correct this.

what to do when.... my 6 yr old son has severe cramps after playing baseball and riding his bike home... he can not walk and is laying down on couch crying about his side.

Any : Any abdominal cramps severe enough for your child to not be able to walk, should be assessed promptly.  Call your child's doctor or take him to the emergency room.  Good luck!
