after a shave or hot shower should i use cold water on my face to close pores before applying moisturizer? or would the cold water not even matter.

Luke warm water: may be the best bet. Hot water can dehydrate skin. If skin is red - use cool water. Insure you use fresh, sharp blades vice dull blades. If hair is &gt; several mm long – then trim before shaving. Wash area before shaving – warm water helps to soften hair. Use a lubricant when shaving. Avoid using products that contain alcohol or are scented. Shave in direction of the hair – not against it. Be gentle

i've heard eating or taking a hot shower can temporarily affect body temperature. by how much and how long should i wait after either to take my temp?

This is an: interesting question that I've never heard asked or answered before so I will give you my best educated guess: I would say an hour. It is very possible your temperature will be normal sooner than that, but I would think an hour would allow things to normalize. I can't imagine there is actually any experimental or scientific literature on this question. Good wishes:)

was in the warm shower had to get out forgot towels so i was dripping wet and freezing by the time i got back and the. jumped in the steaming hot shower is this bad? can it cause body shock?

Can be beneficial!: Not only is this not bad but is thought to be beneficial.
Some advocate deliberately alternating hot with cold showers or moving from a hot bath into a cold tub as a form of hydrotherapy. Heat dilates blood vessels then cold constricts them which is stimulates the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.I always end my showers with cold water briefly to seal in the heat by vasoconstriction.

platelets are normal at 331 but i get petechiae from scratching and notice more on my body after hot shower. scared! am i okay? normal cbc

Accepted Answer

Need Notbe a concern: With platelet count(number) like this, Petechiae have no meaning or any significance. Some drugs like Aspirin can make platelets non functional for a few days. That is the only factor to look into...otherwise you do not need to do anything further.

young male, low wbc 3, plt 148,000, alt 200, ig m 47. darkness around both eyes. when i work out for take a hot shower my whole entire body expands and grows, until its uncomfortable. my arms and legs get so big. is my blood not working right?

Need to examine: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, do not take alcohol, Tylenol, discuss all the medications you take with your doctor, also discuss it you are depressed.

Minutes: The pores do not open that much to begin with and the skin change would last just long enough for the skin temperature to  return to normal.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine, if you are under 27 years of age.

Anemia : Have your doctor check you for anemia. Also get your blood pressure checked while lying, sitting and standing.

Sometimes: Increase in blood flow due to hot water in shower (causes dilation of and increased blood flow in vessels) could cause this.  Should resolve within several minutes.  If ringing persists, or if associated with dizziness, see doctor.  Dr R

Vasodilation: Increased body temperature such as when taking a hot shower can cause vasodilation which will result in a lower blood pressure. Try taking it prior to the hot shower to get an accurate reading. Ideally you will be taking your blood pressure several times a day and keeping a BP journal that you can show to your Dr at your next visit.

i am a white, 42 year old male.  my skin, specifically my chest region, turns splotchy red after a hot shower or strenuous activity.  what causes this?

Hives: This in temporary it is a release of histamine after exercise or pressure from a hot shower. An oral over the counter no tiring antihistamine such as claritin, (loratadine) allegro, or zyrtc could suppress the reaction.
