Clarification needed: "estrogen dominance" is a non-specific term.  If you mean a lack of ovulation and irregular menses, then Progesterone is important to prevent a pre-cancerous change the the uterine lining.  If you are ovulating with monthly cycles, I am unaware of a syndrome of estrogen dominance.

See endocrinologist: If your Progesterone levels are impacting your thyroid levels to that extent, you probably need to have an expert looking at your overall hormone picture.  Your situation is one which merits special attention. Seek out a recommended endocrinologist.

Different functions: Estrogen and Progesterone have very different functions in your body's chemistry and physiology.  Estrogen replacement has been proven to help with night sweats, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, etc. Because of its chemical properties.  Some women find relief with progesterone, but the majority of studies show women who have menopausal symptoms show more improvement with estrogen v. Progesterone.

Yes if you uterus+: Taking estrogen alone takes care of the perimenopausal symptoms . The use of progesteron is to protect the uterus from cancer.

Treat symptoms only: There is a small increase 4-6/10, 000 in risk of breast cancer, heart disease, and blood clots associated with hrt(hormone replacement therapy). On the other side, HRT protects against fractures of hip and spine and alzheimer's disease.The benefit is 4-6/10, 000. There's a strong protection against cataracts, tooth loss, and vaginal dryness. I tell my patients to do what they feel they need to do.

Possible: taking hormones may be associated with an increased risk of pulmonary embolism or other clotting disasters.
some people are hypercoagulable, or smoke or have other risk factors and should not take hormones.
even people with no apparent risks can have a clot.
you have to weigh the risks versus benefits in each case.

See your GYN: You need to see your GYN to discuss treatment of menopausal symptoms. There is no natural supplement to raise estrogen levels. If you have or are going through the change, you need to discuss hormone replacement.

Probably not: The progesterone level only rises with ovulation and with pregnancy. So it should be very low, depending on when it is checked. Hormone levels can affect the mood, but that should also be a cyclic effect that varies throughout the cycle. The bio identical formulations may not offer any benefit - one way or the other.  See your Ob/Gyn.
