OTC medications: Unisom is basically a sedating antihistamine marketed over the counter for sleep just like tylenol (acetaminophen) pm.  These can have lasting hangover effects and should be used per fda recommendations listed on the box.  They do cause tolerance to build so as per bottle, nightly use is not recommended.

It's not: Unidom is nothing more than Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and you will regret the hangover tomorrow.  You can try other more safe things like melatonin, sleepy time tea, or challenging  yourself to reading a long chapter in a tedious book.  A routine of exercise will help in making sleep easy. Also no noise or lights or electronics- and make your room cool= sleep hygiene. Take care.

Yes, but...: Over the counter products can help with ocassional insomnia. But, most people will develope a tolerance to them quickly, and they will not work as effectively or not at all. If sleep is probematic, i woulod suggest having your primary provider refer you to a sleep medicine specialist.

Not a good idea: The combination can increase the risk of CNS depression & psychomotor impairment. Tramadol alone should be adequate to relieve discomfort as well as allow you to sleep.
