Unsafe: Do not have anything to do with anyone who suggests such a procedure.Unless the saline is inected inro a previously surgically placed tissue expander. This is occasionally used in very young children who require scrotal expansion to accomodate undescended testes or a testicular prosthesis. Saline infusions could well become infected and cause an abscess. Would be temporary till saline is absorbed.

Neuron protection: Thiamine of vitamin b1 is an essential co factor in glucose metabolism so that if a person does not have adequate amount and a glucose load is given it can cause neuro toxicity manifested as delirium and occular abnormalities as seen in alcoholics being refed in the hospital. This is called wernick, korsakov syndrome. Diabetics with borderline nutrtional reserve could develop the same problem.

Controversial: A discogram is a controversial procedure in the field of spinal surgery, particularly in the cervical spine.  The discogram is a test and is definitely not a treaent itself for degenerative discs.  There is even a small body of work that suggests that doing a discogram itself on a disc will hasten the degeneration of that disc.  Thank you.

: All laboratory/imaging results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, normal blood test results do not rule out some renal lesions. You may wish to consult a nephrologist.    Wish you good health!

By staying in vessel: This  is a short term fix that is used to maintain circulation by providing material that stays inside the blood vessels, supporting the blood pressure, instead of leaking into the tissue spaces. The size and actions of the albumen molecule allow this, while water  or saline would be not. Other blood elements must do the work of nourishing the tissues with oxygen, but keeping BP up is important.

Yes: Obviously make sure the container is sealed, no for just microbes but as a standard safety practice. Microbes as you mention can be found in warm fresh water. Most often in hot springs. However, some events have been reported from nasal flushes / rinse. However, I am not certain to the validity of these. But to make it short.. Rinse away.

Saline drops : Are very safe to clean the boogers.You may apply some vaseline, a&d ointment or aquaphor ointment after cleaning out the boogers to keep the nostrils moist.

Accepted Answer

Anaphylactic Risk: Severe allergic- type rxns ( including fatal) associated with infusions (intravenous) Iron Dextran administration can occur.  Therefore should only be given when oral iron is not effective or possible.  Test does should be given and then rest given when lab-confirmed iron deficiency confirmed. Need to continue oral iron until iron stores are repleted--about 3 months. Very effective when used.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Presuming you are taking the HCG for fertility treatment and your doctor is ok with you getting pregnant at this time, there is no reason not take iron supplements.

: Drinking saline will not help. Depends on what is causing the alkalosis. I recommend you spend $20 and get 1 month access to UPTODATE.com as acidosis/alkalosis is a complex issue.
